Dundee United v Rangers: Confirmed starting XIs as Gers eye top spot
Rangers return to domestic action this afternoon as Gio van Bronckhorst’s side head to Tannadice to face Dundee United – and the Light Blues have named one change from the stunning midweek win over Borussia Dortmund.
Van Bronckhorst has brought Fil Helander back into the side with Borna Barisic dropping out and Calvin Bassey moving over to left-back.
The Gers have failed to win any of their last three away games in the league, losing to Celtic and drawing with Aberdeen and Ross County, but subsequent wins on the road at Annan and Dortmund, there should be plenty of confidence amongst the Ibrox stars.
The hosts actually won 1-0 the last time the two sides met at Tannadice, ending Rangers’ season-spanning unbeaten run under Steven Gerrard at the beginning of the campaign.
Helander missed the Europa League win over Dortmund after being left out of the squad but returns for the trop to Dundee this afternoon.
That sees Allan McGregor line up in goals behind James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Fil Helander and Calvin Bassey.
Ahead of the Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Joe Aribo make up the midfield trio while Scott Arfield, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos lead the line for the Light Blues.
With Celtic not in action until 3 pm, Rangers could go top this afternoon ahead of whatever happens in the east end of Glasgow.
