Microsoft E3 2021: no Fable or Perfect Dark claims insider
As Microsoft’s big E3 presentation draws near, insider Jeff Grubb has tried to lower expectations with a list of games that won’t appear.
Aside from Halo Infinite, which games will be present during Microsoft and Bethesda’s E3 showing tonight are a complete mystery. There’s certainly a bevy of exciting possibilities, but one insider, rather than make suggestions of what will be there, has listed the games that won’t appear.
GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, perhaps in an attempt to lower expectations and prevent fan disappointment, posted a selection of games he claims won’t be featured during the Microsoft presentation.
Specifically, he mentions Fable and Avowed, the Xbox’s two big role-playing games, the Perfect Dark revival, Hellblade 2, and the rumoured dragon game from Hitman studio IO Interactive.
When asked if Rare’s Everwild or the new game from Compulsion Games (the We Happy Few studio) would be shown, Grubb ruled both out as well. Someone else asked if Microsoft would finally announce a new Banjo-Kazooie game, with Grubb bluntly replying ‘no’.
One user shared their own prediction for what will be shown, such as some safe bets like Starfield (which has been heavily rumoured to appear this E3) and Forza Horizon 5. Aside from a couple more unannounced games, Grubb says that their list is pretty accurate.
Interestingly, that list includes The Outer Worlds 2, a sequel to Obsidian’s own alternative to Fallout from 2019. A sequel was practically guaranteed thanks to the first game’s critical and financial success but, with Microsoft now handling publishing duties, it will probably be an Xbox and PC exclusive.
More: GamingThe likes of Fable, Avowed, and Perfect Dark making E3 2021 appearances was always something of a long shot. Despite all three being announced last year, they only had pre-rendered teasers, which suggests they’re still very early in development.
As for Hellblade 2, it’s been relatively absent since its 2019 announcement. However, another prominent leaker claimed that the game will be featured during E3. That same leaker also mentioned Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope before it was officially announced, which could lend some validity to their claims.
We’ll just have to wait and see until Microsoft’s presentation, which begins at 6pm BST and is scheduled to run for around an hour and a half.
