Bobby Brazier chops off long locks as he runs onto BBC EastEnders set after singing new contract
Bobby Brazier is sporting a brand new hairstyle after renewing his contract with EastEnders.
The Strictly Come Dancing star – who stars as Freddie Slater – was spotted running onto set in the first pictures since he signed a new contract with the BBC soap. Bobby wore a simply black T-shirt with jeans and white trainers.
His notably shorter hair was on show as he headed into work after not being seen in Walford since taking a break for Strictly. Mirror exclusively revealed last week that Bobby's future with EastEnders has finally been resolved with the actor previously tempted to walk away from the BBC soap.
One source said: “Bobby is seen as one of the Square’s brightest young stars, and to lose him would have been a massive blow for the show. For his part, he loves playing Freddie, but he was in such demand after Strictly and he felt he needed to give all of the offers open to him proper consideration.
“Thankfully he has now decided to renew his contract and everyone is thrilled. He does still have other projects he is in talks for, but they will run alongside his work on the show - much like Molly Rainford’s single last year or Tameka Empson’s recent play.”
Bobby – the son of the late Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier – made it through to the Strictly final alongside professional Dianne Buswell, losing out to Ellie Leach. After the series came to an end last year, Bobby headed out on the Strictly tour before returning to work in February.
The actor recently revealed he has landed a brand new TV role alongside a host of other soap stars. Paramount+ has announced that EastEnders stars Bobby, Lucy Benjamin, Larry Lamb and Anita Dobson have joined the cast of Curfew.
Bobby joins Sarah Parish, Mitchell Robinson, Mandip Gill and singer Alexandra Burke for the six-part crime thriller. The adaptation of Jayne Cowie’s Novel After Dark commenced filming earlier this year with the newly announced cast members expected to start filming scenes in the coming weeks.
Earlier this year, Bobby admitted he had big plans for his career and even hopes to have some singing lessons to become a more rounded performer. He said: “I have the intention of learning how to become the best storyteller I can. I think the next couple of years is just about getting experience across the board. So maybe doing some theatre, some film, maybe learning how to sing.
“Maybe doing some more dancing. I think I’m still young, so yeah, throwing myself at lots of different things so I can learn my craft. I want to be a craftsman. You can’t get good at it unless you try all these different things and that’s scary."
