ORLANDO, Fla. – Most people have their own family traditions to celebrate the Easter holiday, so we asked tourists on vacation in Orlando about their Easter practices and whether they brought any from home.

We spoke to several families visiting from England and as it turns out, some of them brought their own traditions from the United Kingdom.

“We wasn’t sure what they’d be doing in the U.S., like celebrating Easter and things like that,” said Ashley Davis, who is visiting from England with his family. “We decided to bring a box of creme eggs — Cadbury’s Creme Eggs — so we got ten of them and then the plan is later today we’ll probably go around and put them by the pool, the kids have a run around and do a Easter egg hunt.”

Davis is here with his kids. Across the pond, schools take off two weeks for the Easter holiday. Davis’ son said he’s happy they brought some of their traditions from home to America.

“Probably getting the Easter eggs and then things like the pool, because normally in England if we like go into the pool it’s normally quite cold, but they’re like really warm pools, so we can jump in straight after,” he said.

The Davis family is also meeting up with their friends from back home: Steve, Peppa and Evan Saunders. We asked them how they would normally celebrate their Easter in England.

“OK, so to start off we would have chocolate Easter eggs, so we always have chocolate Easter eggs and do that on Sunday,” Steve Saunders said. “We would have a big roast dinner, so we roast beef, roast potatoes, all the rest of it. If it’s a really nice day, we might have a barbecue.”

Another family also told us how everything closes down on Easter Sunday in England.

“No shops are open on the Sunday, though,” said Steve Cole. “Everything closes down on Sunday.”

All three families told us they’re excited to be in Florida for their time off and are happy to be here for their Easter holiday.
