Erling Haaland has said he’d be 'crazy' to try and emulate last season’s haul of 52 goals – insisting he isn’t setting any personal targets ahead of Sunday’s title clash at Liverpool.
Haaland has bagged an impressive 31 goals in 33 games for City this season despite missing six weeks with an ankle injury but considers his debut campaign at The Etihad as a one-off and refuses to put pressure on himself to reach those numbers again.
‘Last season was amazing but it is history,’ he explained. ‘This season is a whole new thing, so I can not think about goal targets.
‘I’d be crazy to think about this. I have to take things game-by-game and help the team win. That is my main focus.’
Haaland is hitting peak form at the right time with his tally of seven goals in his last three games coinciding with Kevin De Bruyne’s return to the side after his own injury problems.

The Norwegian striker clinched the Premier League Golden Boot award for the 2022-23 campaign
Injuries have stopped him from repeating the feats of his 52-goal season, but he still has 31 goals in 33 appearances
‘He is a fantastic footballer and with him things click,’ acknowledged the 23-year-old Norwegian.
‘I enjoy playing with Kevin. Sadly, injuries are a big part of football and you to make the best of it when people are out. They have to come back stronger.
‘We are still in three competitions and how the Premier League is, it all comes down to being the best team in the last few months. It is a really massive game against Liverpool. We play football because of these games.’
City head to Anfield unbeaten in 20 matches in all competitions but still trailing Jurgen Klopp’s side by a point.
One of Haaland’s best pals will be wearing red with Dominik Szoboszlai a close friend from their days at RB Leipzig.
They are neighbours these days and Haaland said: ‘He is an amazing player. Liverpool have many great players but the good thing is so do we!’
Haaland also lumped praise on his team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, claiming he 'enjoyed playing with the Belgian'
