Fool Me Once star Joanna Lumley has been revealed as the UK's Eurovision 2024 spokesperson.

The award-winning actor will take on the important role of delivering the results of the UK's National Jury during the live final, which will take place in the Swedish city of Malmö on Saturday, May 11.

"Good Evening Malmö, it's Joanna here! I am delighted to be announcing the jury vote for the UK at this year's Eurovision. It's such a fabulous honour to give the iconic 'douze points!'" said Lumley in a statement, already preparing for her vital role.

Ahead of returning to the commentator's box next week, Graham Norton announced the exciting news on Friday's (May 3) episode of The One Show. "How has she not done it before? It seems so perfect," he said.

The show's host Alex Jones later shared her hopes for Lumley to reveal the scores as her iconic Absolutely Fabulous character Patsy Stone, with a "champagne flute in hand".

Lumley follows in the footsteps of Doctor Who star Catherine Tate, who announced the UK's jury votes last year, live from the arena in Liverpool.

Other acclaimed UK spokespeople include Big Brother host AJ Odudu, Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, former Pointless presenter Richard Osman and Taskmaster's Mel Giedroyc.

RuPaul's Drag Race stars Tia Kofi and Elecktra will also join the Eurovision family this year, as they are set to host the event's Turquoise Carpet.

The carpet serves as the official opening ceremony for Eurovision, allowing fans a chance to meet the performers competing in the show.

Years & Years star Olly Alexander will represent the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, where he will perform the song 'Dizzy'.

The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals begin on Tuesday, May 7 on BBC One. The Grand Final will air on Saturday, May 11 from 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
