Everton fans walked out of Goodison Park as a record-breaking 4-1 display from Liverpool and Mohamed Salah left Rafael Benitez’ future in tatters.

Liverpool mocked their rivals with songs about manager Benitez pre-match, and ended the game in the same manor as their side cruised to a convincing three points.

• Liverpool steamrolled their opponents in the opening stages, finally finding the breakthrough with a Jordan Henderson curler in the ninth minute.
• 10 minutes later it was two when Salah latched onto a Henderson pass before guiding an unstoppable shot around Jordan Pickford and into the top corner.
• A number of fans began filtering out of Goodison Park when the second goal went in, only to miss Demarai Gray cut the deficit before half-time.
• However, a second half comeback wasn’t on the cards, with Salah latching onto a Seamus Coleman mistake to put the game to bed.
• A wonderful Diogo Jota turn and finish into the roof of the net added some gloss late into the match.
