Channel 5 Finders Keepers start time, full cast list, locations and ...

Finders Keepers is the brand new drama coming to Channel 5 with a star-studded cast list. Those in the line-up include Inbetweeners star James Buckley, Men Behaving Badly's Neil Morrissey, and Cold Feet's Fay Ripley.

Also in the cast is Jessica Rhodes, Rakhee Thakrar, Shane Attwooll, and Brendan Coyle. Set in Somerset, although predominately filmed in Buckinghamshire, Finders Keepers is the story of Martin and Ashley, two detectorists in rural Somerset, who stumble on a hoard of buried Saxon treasure worth millions. Legally, they should declare it. But if they sell it privately they could both be set for life.

A series synopsis reads: "Martin runs his own small engineering business and is a local history nut. Wheeler dealer Ashley is engaged to Martin’s daughter Laura. As you might expect, it’s Ashley who thinks they should look after number one and sell the hoard on the black market but straight arrow Martin needs persuading. It’s incredibly tempting. For once life has dealt him a winning card. He’s worked hard all his life for little reward. Maybe this is his chance to get one over on the world?

"Once Martin is persuaded to try and sell the hoard illegally, he ends up entangled with local bad lad Rocky - a man who turns out to be a lot more dangerous than he looks. He also unwittingly draws the attention of the Greater London Police. As the pressure builds, Martin’s behaviour changes as the situation starts to spiral out of control. His wife Anne has met a new male friend at her weekly dancing class. Is Martin’s greed putting his precious marriage in jeopardy?

"Meanwhile daughter Laura is having doubts about committing to Ashley, and the tenacious DS Doyle draws ever nearer to the truth. Martin knows he needs to return the hoard to the ground - it’s a curse, not a blessing – but is he already in too deep?"

The new series kicks off on Channel 5 at 9pm on Wednesday, January 17.

Where was Finders Keepers filmed?

The series is set in Somerset, but a lot of filming took place in Buckinghamshire. Asked if they got a chance to film in Somerset, cretr and writer Dan Sefton said: "We really did try but it just didn’t work out. So we had two lovely days in Glastonbury, where we filmed out in the High Street with a real life wizard who was standing there – we asked him to sign a release form so he's in the show! Then we popped up to Glastonbury Tor to do some drone shots. But most of it was shot in Buckinghamshire."

While actor Fay said of shooting: "Some of the drama was filmed in Glastonbury, and I can really get into the whole Glastonbury thing – it’s a slightly mystical place and whenever I drive by there I can feel the Druids calling to me!

"Most of Anne’s story was filmed in the domestic environment, and it’s so weird when you film in a house – it’s amazing how quickly you feel like your pretend house is your actual home. And then at the end of the day you go home to your real house. Acting can be a weird life!"
