A three-year-old polar bear enjoyed a meaty frozen treat at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium on the first day of spring, footage shows.
Video shows Laerke having a “fishsicle” in her saltwater pool at the Tacoma-area zoo on March 19.
Laerke and her sister, Astra, were born in November 2020 at Detroit Zoo and moved to Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in 2023.
The polar bears have “very different personalities,” a Point Defiance Zoo staff biologist said in a press release. “Laerke is more quiet. She really likes to watch what her keepers are doing. I often find her closely observing [us].”
The zoo said the polar bears would be “off and on exhibit” temporarily, as work was starting March 21 to “enhance their habitat.” Credit: Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium via Storyful
