ARLINGTON, Texas – MMA Junkie is on the scene and reporting live from tonight’s Triller Triad Combat event.
Triad Combat is a new style of fighting that takes place in a triangular ring, incorporating boxing and MMA rules. The idea is to set professional boxers against professional MMA fighters in an environment that “levels the playing field.” Tonight’s card features MMA notables in former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, former UFC and Bellator heavyweight Matt Mitrione, former UFC welterweight Mike Perry, and former Bellator featherweight Derek Campos.
Keep it locked here for fight results as they happen, as well as live behind-the-scenes updates from Globe Life Field, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

6:05 p.m. – Earlier this week, MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn spoke with Metallica’s Robert Trujillo about this event:
Former UFC light heavyweight champion “Rampage” Jackson and captain of the MMA team for Triad Combat spoke about switching to boxing along with potential opponent, Shannon Briggs:
Friday afternoon, the fighters of Triad Combat took to the scale to record their official weight and get up close and personal with their opponent in these intense staredowns:
6:22 p.m. – A familiar face stepped through the ropes before the festivities began. Tyron Woodley got in some quick shadowboxing and got a feel for the triangle-shaped ring. Is Triad Combat in his future?

7:18 p.m. – Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley stopped for a quick interview to talk about what’s next in his career. He also had a few choice words for his former opponent Jake Paul.
7:21 p.m. – All of the fighters competing in tonight’s bouts were lined up for introductions before stepping inside the triangle.

7:47 p.m. – One of the elements of Triad Combat is the open-hand 8-ounce gloves the fighters are wearing, which leaves the possibility open for an eye poke. In the first fight of the event, that happened in the fourth round of Harry Gigliotti vs. Jacob Thrall.
And there's what I was worried about…the first eye poke of the evening.
Boxers don't usually have to worry about this. #TriadCombat
