Fred Savage fired from The Wonder Years reboot after inappropriate conduct
Actor-turned-director Fred Savage played Kevin Arnold in the original show and returned to produce and direct the reboot

Fred Savage has been fired from The Wonder Years reboot after an investigation into "multiple complaints of misconduct".

Savage was executive producer and director on the ABC comedy series - now produced as part of Disney Television Studios.

The Wonder Years is a reboot of the much loved 1988 series which starred Savage.

"Recently, we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched," a statement from parent company Disney read.

"Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of The Wonder Years ."

Details about the nature of the misconduct allegations are unclear, but Deadline claims they included "verbal outbursts" and "inappropriate behaviour".

Mirror has reached out to Savage’s reps for comment.

Savage became a star of the small screen playing Kevin Arnold in the ‘60s and ‘70s-set show.

The Wonder Years ran for an impressive six seasons from 1988-1993.

A revival of the series premiered last year.

Season 1 of the Wonder Years reboot aired in 2021 and now Season 2 hangs in the balance after Savage was fired.

Savage directed eight episodes of the new series that follows Elisha ‘EJ’ Williams as the protagonist Dean Williams and depicts a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama during the 1960s.

In 2018, it was reported that the actor was accused of sexual harassment when he was 16 years old.

The case was settled out of court and subsequently dropped.

His former co-star Alley Mills, who played his mother on The Wonder Years, claimed the lawsuit was "completely ridiculous" at the time after it forced the show to be cancelled.

"When we shot the series finale, nobody knew whether or not The Wonder Years was going to be renewed, and that’s because of a completely ridiculous sexual harassment suit that was going on against Fred Savage," she said.
