Gordon Ramsay slammed by newlyweds as he gatecrashes beach wedding to film TV series
Newly-weds Charlie Willis, 35, and wife Laura, 29, have described their special day as a 'nightmare' after chef Gordon Ramsay and his TV crew shot his new series, Future Food Stars, at their wedding venue

A couple have blasted Gordon Ramsay and his production team for ruining their wedding day at a private Cornish beach resort.

Charlie Willis, 35, and wife Laura, 29, paid £1,300 for their intimate six-person ceremony and reception last month at Lusty Glaze beach, near Newquay, Cornwall.

However, the newly-weds were left devastated when their nuptials were "gatecrashed" by the TV chef and his film crew as they shot his new series, Future Food Stars.

The bride and groom said that Gordon and the TV production had taken over the venue’s kitchen due to filming.

And as a result, Charlie claimed the couple's wedding dinner – which costs £50-a-head - ended up being "cheap and nasty" and described their special day as a "nightmare".

Speaking to The Sun, plumbing merchant Charlie from Kettering admitted he and his wife “felt like extras” on their wedding day.

He said: "The whole thing was a complete kitchen nightmare. We had both worked so hard to save for that day and we felt like extras on a gameshow."

In light of their claims, a spokesperson for Lusty Glaze told the publication that the wedding party hadn't secured exclusive use of the beach, which meant Gordon and his crew were allowed to film in "very unusual" circumstances.

After hearing the newlyweds were upset, Gordon is said to have paid the pair’s wedding costs in full as a gesture of goodwill.

The restaurateur’s executive producer at Studio Ramsay also sent the pair apologising for any upset caused and insisted they were "mortified" they had “affected their special day”.

The letter read: "Dear Mr and Mrs Willis, I am writing to apologise for the upset our filming caused you on your wedding day at Lusty Glaze beach.

"I am mortified that we affected your special day and I can assure you that it was never our intention to upset you or your guests.

"As you are aware, we have now paid for your wedding in full, which I hope goes some way towards making amends and acknowledging how sorry I am that your special day was affected, albeit unintentionally, by us.

"I do hope you can accept my apologies and I wish you well for the future."

A rep for Gordon Ramsay has told the Mirror: "There was no gate crashing, Studio Ramsay was booked to film on the beach the same day as various weddings and events were taking place.

"It’s a real shame this couple are still complaining, their bill was generously covered. They happily chatted with Gordon on the day.

"They didn’t have exclusive use of the beach and all the other beachgoers had a really great time joining in on and off camera".

In light of the couple's claims about their nuptials being a "nightmare", Lauren shared her wedding video online and branded it the "Best day of my life" last week.

The furore comes three months after Gordon's new BBC series had been announced that is cheekily titled FFS - Future Food Stars.

The foodie series is reported to follow a similar format to The Apprentice with 12 entrepreneurs hoping to receive a life-changing restaurant investment.

A TV source told The Sun : “The Beeb will start filming in the summer. It was meant to get underway last year but was cancelled due to the pandemic.

"Now the hospitality industry is getting back on its feet after taking such a battering, there’s a real sense of hope and opportunity out there, which is what this prime-time show is all about."
