Tuesday
With less than two weeks until Shrove Tuesday, there's no better time to perfect your pancake-baking skills ahead of the big day.

With Shrove Tuesday just around the corner, it's the perfect time to brush up on your pancake-making skills.

TV chef Gordon Ramsay has shared his recipe for "light, fluffy and absolutely delicious" American-style pancakes.

On The F Word, Ramsay asked: "Pancakes, why do we only eat them in February, once a year on Shrove Tuesday?"

He then shared his tasty recipe, which has been viewed over 60,000 times on YouTube.

Fans have been quick to praise the recipe. One user said: "Soo just made this and turned out sooo damn good!!!! Great recipe!!!"

In a separate bowl, crack three eggs and give them a good stir with a fork. Pour this mixture into the flour and whisk diligently until any lurking lumps are banished, as Gordon recommends, ensuring a smooth batter.

In a jug, combine water and buttermilk. Gradually add half of this concoction to the bowl, whisking vigorously to maintain a seamless consistency. Pour in the remaining buttermilk and continue whisking until the batter achieves a velvety smoothness.

In a non-stick pan, drizzle sunflower oil and ladle in half of the batter. Cook each side for precisely one minute and 30 seconds, resulting in a golden perfection. Once done, transfer the pancake to a plate.

Now, turn your attention to preparing the toppings, starting with the caramel sauce.

In a saucepan, caramelise sugar until it takes on a rich brown hue. Remove from heat, introduce a generous slab of butter, and return to the heat.

Once the butter has melted, add sliced bananas to the caramelised goodness.

Glaze the pan with rum, an excellent companion to the yellow fruit. Add a small glass of water to refine the caramel's consistency and prevent stickiness.

Serve this delightful sauce atop the pancakes and accompany it with a scoop of ice cream for the ultimate indulgence.
