Grand National 2024 Confirmed full list of 34 runners for racing
The world famous Grand National race takes place at Aintree on Saturday afternoon, with Corach Rambler looking to defend his title after coming out on top last year

The 34-horse line-up for Saturday's Grand National has been confirmed as Aintree prepares for its showpiece event.

Last year's winner Corach Rambler heads the contenders, with the maximum number of runners cut to 34 from 40 for safety reasons. Trained by Lucinda Russell, the 10-year-old attempts to join the likes of Red Rum and Tiger Roll by winning the world's greatest steeplechase and £1million spectacle for the second consecutive year.

Leading trainers Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott both have eight runners in this year's edition.

Champion trainer Mullins is bidding for a first National success since 2005, with I Am Maximus, winner of last year's Irish National, his strongest chance. Elliott, a three-time National winner, sees his team led by Delta Work, who finished third in the race in 2022.

Kitty's Light, bidding to be the first Welsh-trained winner of the race since 1905, was one of a trio of National candidates left sweating after Monday’s confirmation stage. But after Elliott's decision to race Conflated in the Melling Chase, Christian Willams' well-fancied horse snuck into the final line-up.

Rachael Blackmore, the first female jockey to win the race, is aboard Minella Indo - winner of the 2021 Cheltenham Gold Cup - for Henry de Bromhead. Last year’s runner-up Vanillier is one of two in the race for Gavin Cromwell, who will also saddle Cheltenham Festival scorer Limerick Lace, the chosen mount of JP McManus’ retained rider Mark Walsh.

Panda Boy has the opportunity to give Martin Brassil a second victory in the race, while John McConnell will saddle his first National contender, with Mahler Mission.

The race is off at 4pm live on ITV on Saturday and once again promises to be captivating viewing. Here are this year's Grand National's runners and riders:
