Fans go wild when Greg James strikes up a friendship with now-viral sensation Train Jane

Greg James was dubbed a 'national treasure' on Sunday after striking up a friendship with a fan - who is now being referred to online as Train Jane. 

Twitter erupted when the BBC Radio 1 host, 36, documented his interaction with the commuter, who was oblivious that her daughter Colleen had tweeted him saying: '@gregjames My mum thinks she’s sat next to you on a train from Edinburgh right now so if you could confirm that would be amazing, her name is Jane and she’s just had a white wine and says you are on red x'. 

The DJ did no more and decided to record the moment he addressed an unbeknownst Jane, who was sat across the aisle from him, directly.

The video, shared to Greg's Instagram and Twitter profiles, began with the image of Colleen's now widely-circulated tweet, before the presenter panned to his and Jane's respective cups of wine. 

At the same time the camera's focus switched to Jane, Greg asked: 'Are you Jane?'

Coyly, she lifted her glasses and said: 'I am Jane, why?'

Jane learned that her daughter was behind their interaction when a heartily laughing Greg showed her Colleen's tweet. 

Joining in with Greg's laughter, Jane enthused: 'That's my daughter!'  

Greg later took to Instagram with a selfie of the pair bonding over their wine, writing: 'TRAIN JANE! It's quite literally been a journey.'
