First look as Harry Kane statue finally revealed after £7k sculpture sat in storage for four years
A statue of England captain Harry Kane, comissioned in 2019 by Waltham Forest Council, is still yet to be unveiled more than four years later.
The statue remains in storage, reportedly because a location for it can't be found near the Bayern Munich man's boyhood hometown of Chingford. The statue's design sees Kane sat on a bench donning an England kit, with a ball on his knee and is believed to have cost £7,200.
Pictures of the statue have been obtained by the Big Issue, after images were supplied to Waltham Forest Council by sculptors Sculpture Machine. Emma Best is one of the councillors who comissioned the statue and recently confessed she has been searching for somewhere to put it.
Best told the BBC she had spent "hours and hours" trying to agree a home for the sculpture with "stakeholders". A spokesperson for the striker suggested its unveiling could come soon.
"Especially with Harry being England and Tottenham's all time top goal scorer. It is what he deserves," Kane's representative said.
"The location of the statue is really important to us and like Emma said we are having some issues at the moment, but when we get it right, we will be happy to go."
So much time has passed since the sculpture was constructued that between then and now, Kane has become the highest scoring player in both Tottenham and England history, left the north London club and joined Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Kane himself has also addressed the idea of him being given a statue on the grounds of Spurs' stadium. Speaking before his exit last summer, the England skipper admitted: "A statue is a statue, it's not something that's going to make or break my career."
Last month saw Kane's team explain that the location of the statue "is really important to us" and that "when we get it right, we will be happy to go."
The bulk of the money used to commision this statue is thought to have come from funds allocated to councillors, as per Waltham Forest council.
