Robbie Neilson aims Hibs fans 'stuck on M8' dig as Hearts turn Hampden maroon

Robbie Neilson aimed a cheeky dig at the Hibernian support before the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The Hearts boss joked that the Hibees buses must be 'stuck on the M8.'

There were large sections of empty seats in the Hibs end at Hampden.

In contrast, Hearts took up their full allocation - and extra tickets - with the national stadium filled with maroon.

Neilson was in jovial mood pre-match as he lauded the 'magnificent' Hearts support.

He told BBC Scotland: "There's always that energy before these games.

"We drove in an hour and a half before kick-off and the place was getting busy coming along Polmadie - it was mobbed.

"The build up was there and we are looking forward to it.

"It's a derby. Whether it's at Tynecastle, Easter Road or Hampden, it doesn't matter because it's a derby.

"The players understand that they've got to win the derby and what comes off the back of that is great.

"Whether that's European football or a cup final - it's a derby, first and foremost.

"We've brought almost 22,000 fans through to Hampden and we want to send them home happy.

"I think there must be a few Hibs buses stuck on the M8.

"We've got a brilliant fanbase. We sold out our allocation, got more tickets and sold them out again."
