HMRC extends Airwave device deal for criminal investigation units
HM Revenue and Customs has signed a seven-figure deal to extend the use of Airwave devices for its criminal investigation units. The tax department has two units staffed by officers with criminal investigation and enforcement powers, who now require £1.4 million worth of devices to remain connected to the outgoing emergency services communications system.
This move highlights the importance of maintaining communication channels for law enforcement agencies, especially those tasked with criminal investigations. By investing in the latest technology, HMRC aims to ensure that its officers can effectively carry out their duties and collaborate with other emergency services seamlessly.
