Beau Webster replaces Boland. WICKET! Gill throws his wicket away again! Steps out and looks to heave this over mid wicket, gets a faint edge and Carey pouches it behind the stumps.

Boland. Out! Kohli is gone. You can guess how he got out. Length ball, seaming away, finishing on fifth stump, Kohli gets an edge straight to slip. Was this the last time we saw Kohli batting in Australia? He falls for six.

Rishabh Pant. Charges down the track for a SIX!! A first ball six over long on. Now Pant tries a reverse sweep but misses. Late cut past the slip cordon for a single by Pant. 

Cummins. Gill punches the ball towards cover for four! Terrific shot. An appeal for caught behind but umpire says not out. Cummins wants to review but doesn’t in the end. Follows it up with a jaffa, squaring up Gill. 

Boland. Inside edge off Gill’s bat and the batters run a quick single. Kohli pushes the ball towards off side and takes a single. Short ball, Kohli pulls towards wide mid on for four! 

Cummins to Kohli. Straighter line, Kohli looks to defend. Ball moving quick off the surface but not-so-much lateral movement. 

Boland. OUT! Jaiswal is gone as well! Jaiswal was consistently getting his beaten off his outside edge and this time as well, ball moves past the edge and cleans up the off stump. Jaiswal made 22 runs. 

Virat Kohli now. Full on pads, Kohli pushes towards midwicket and takes a single. 

Cummins. Plenty of plays and misses for Jaiswal this over. Jaiswal moves away very late and Cummins has to go back to his run up and bowl. 

Boland. OUT! Rahul is gone. Straight line, Rahul goes for a drive, gets an inside edge and is dismissed. He falls for 13. 

Shubman Gill at the crease. Boland is looking good at the moment with the surface quicken up since morning. Gill is off the mark with a four. Cuts past gully. 

Cummins replaces Starc. Huge appeal for LBW against Jaiswal but umpire says not out. Australians discuss but don’t take the review. It seemed to be going down the leg. 

Scott Boland into the attack. Not much movement out there. Rahul pushes the ball towards point and gets a double.

Bumrah bowled just 10 overs, picked two wickets before walking off the field injured. He has gone for scans for which the results are awaited. 

Siraj is back. OUT! Boland is bowled. After hitting a four off the previous delivery, Boland finds his stumps rattled with a nip-backer. India takes a four-run lead.

Prasidh Krishna: on three balls he looks unplayable, other three balls gives away easy runs. Boland and Lyon take three runs in his over. 

Boland and Lyon have once again joined hands at the crease. Can they replicate a similar partnership like the one at MCG? Lyon chips Nitish over mid-on and adds three runs to the total. 

Prasidh Krishna is back. OUT! Webster is gone! Back of the length, seamed away and took the outside edge off Webster’s bat straight to gully. Great catch by Jaiswal there. 

Scott Boland is off the mark with a four down the leg. 

WICKET! Nitish gets another one. Starc edges to Rahul at second slip. A third umpire check to check if this was grassed. Rahul has fingers under the ball and it is a straightforward call for the third umpire.

Nitish to Webster, punches the third delivery off his toes, two runs. FOUR for Cummins! Nitish overpitches and Cummins gets down on one knee to cream this through covers. WICKET! The very next ball, Cummins edges to Kohli at first slip.

Siraj back into the attack now. A maiden over. Cummins has multiple swing-and-misses in the over too.

Nitish Reddy to replace Jadeja. A maiden FIFTY for Webster, drives this through covers for three runs. A single for Cummins through point. Webster tries to work it away through the point region but finds the gully fielder. Four runs from the over.

Three singles and a bye from this Prasidh over. There is an lbw appeal in this over but Cummins gets it off his inside edge. 

Jadeja to continue. Seven runs in the over. Webster gets the length on offer and he drives wide of deep cover for FOUR! 

Prasidh to Webster. A single off the third delivery to mid off. Cummins gets a single to deep point to retain strike.

Jadeja back into the attack. Webster drives on the first two but he ends up slicing them towards point. A single on the fifth delivery to deep covers.

Prasidh to Carey. Four byes! A wayward delivery going down leg, no chance for Pant to stop that. ALMOST! Prasidh gets a delivery to nip in and sneak between Carey’s gate. Misses the top of off by a whisker. BOWLED HIM! Prasidh missed the stumps on the last one, but this time he gets the target. Another nip backer that angles in and crashes into the stumps.

Prasidh again. A leg bye for Carey to short square leg. Webster hit to deep mid wicket for another single. Carey clips this delivery angling into him, gets a run.

Siraj to Carey, beats him as the leftie tries to play across the line. He punches the third to deep point for a single. A no ball in the over from Siraj. Webster is hit on the pad with this in-seaming delivery but this one’s going too high.

Prasidh to Webster, gets on top of the bounce, punches through covers for two runs. A slew of play-and-misses from Webster in the over outside the off stump. 

Siraj replaces Bumrah. Webster drives the third delivery through covers, thinks of two but settles for a single. Carey tries to drive at Siraj who is coming from over the wicket, beaten. FOUR! Connects with the drive this time, creams it through covers.

Bumrah has gone off the field after that over. 

Prasidh again. Webster flicks the third delivery through square leg for one run. 

Bumrah to Carey, punches through covers for a couple. FOUR! Carey slashes outside off, gets it past gully.

FOUR! Prasidh goes a fraction too full to Webster on the final delivery. Webster gets down and on-drives it.

IND vs AUS, 5th Test: ‘This is not a retirement decision,’ says Rohit Sharma after ‘stepping down’ in Sydney

Rohit Sharma on Saturday cleared the air around his omission from the playing XI for the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney.

Siraj is also brought back. Just a hint of swing right now. Full and too wide, Carey is off the mark with a cover drive for four. Five runs off the final over before Lunch. A good session for India. 

Prasidh is back. OUT! Smith is gone. Full and seamed away, Smith tried to keep a straight bat but gets an edge to the slips. Terrific bowling change for India, five minutes before Lunch. 

Alex Carey at the crease. A good over for Prasidh, maiden wicket. 

Ravindra Jadeja into the attack. Webster ramps towards fine leg and gets a double. Four runs from that over. 

Smith plays out a maiden against Siraj. Webster gets a boundary off the first ball of NKR’s over towards gully. Too short for that pace by NKR. Now a half-volley for Smith and he pushes it straight for another boundary. Another four! Short and wide, Smith cuts towards point region. 

Nitish Kumar. An LBW appeal against Smith but umpire says not out. Smith did shuffle across, but the ball was going down the leg. Just a single added in that total. NKR also bowling straighter lines. 

Siraj is back. Short outside off, Smith cuts past gully for four! Siraj keeps it straight, the pitch is flattening out now. 

Nitish Kumar Reddy into the attack. Beats Webster’s outside edge off the first ball. Two singles in that over. 

Bumrah continues to keep things tight from one end. However, Webster has found it easy to score runs against Prasidh. Not enough catching fielders in place. 

Prasidh. Full on the pads, Webster flicks towards deep midwicket and gets a double. Beats the outside edge off the last ball of the over. Turning out to be a good partnership for Australia. 

Bumrah. Ball is zipping but Smith is happy to leave on length. Inside edge and the ball goes past the short leg fielder. 

Prasidh continues. Ball is coming quick off the surface but with the sun shining, batting should get easier by the second session. Bouncer and Webster pulls him for four! Terrific shot. 

Bumrah is back. Down the leg and Webster clips it for four towards fine leg. Jaffa! Goes past Webster’s outside edge. That came back in long way! Webster leaves on length. 

Prasidh to Smith. SIX! Smith reads this short pitch and pulls it away in a flash. FOUR! Driven through covers, 10 runs from the over.

Siraj to Beau Webster, gets off the mark with a punch through backward point. Smith gets three runs with a punch through mid on. He forces Smith into a drive, beats his edge.

Bumrah to Konstas, FOUR, and there comes the ramp shot over the slips. Konstas steps out and tries to launch this over covers, miscues and gets only one. Four byes down leg for Bumrah to close the over.

Konstas charges down the wicket against Bumrah and smashes down the ground for FOUR! Konstas gets a single through fine leg on the fourth.

Siraj to Smith. Driven down the ground for three runs. Siraj has a bleeding finger and needs the physio. A big mix up between Konstas and Smith, the latter was gone at the non-striker’s end if Washington made a direct hit from square leg. A slice through gully for Konstas, one run.

Bumrah to Marnus, GONE! India is confident he’s edged it to the keeper but the umpire keeps the finger down. India goes for a DRS and the decision is overturned. A clear spike on the Snickometer.

Siraj to Konstas, beaten! He pushes at it but sees the ball move away. The second delivery lands at middle and leg and moves towards the off stump, nearly squares up Kontas. Two runs through backward point on the fifth delivery.

Bumrah to Marnus. Drives the second through the open covers region for two runs. Edges the third to gully. A lot of words from the Indian close-in fielders. Marnus watches out the rest of the over.

Mohammed Siraj to bowl the first over of the day. Konstas on strike. Two runs on the first delivery through fine leg. Konstas defends the remaining deliveries in this over.

The Indian team stands in a hurdle outside the iconic pavilion. Marnus Labuschagne and Sam Konstas will be the Austrlian pair in the middle.

There’s no way you’ve missed what is expected to be the theme of the second day of this Sydney Test. Sam Konstas decided to have a go at Jasprit Bumrah in the closing moments of the day which spurred the pacer on and got him the wicket of Usman Khawaja.

The way the Indian team gave a send off to not Khawaja but Konstas as they walked off the pitch, expect some fireworks as we begin the day.
