Britains Got Talents Innocent Masuku sees semi final performance
Opera singer Innocent Makusu was the last act to perform in Monday's Britain's Got Talent first semi final

He's one of the favourites to win the new series, but Britain's Got Talent viewers are claiming that Innocent Masuku's semi final performance on Monday night was 'ruined' by backing music that 'drowned out' his vocals.

Singer Innocent delivered one of the most memorable auditions on the ITV show this year and, while he didn't get the Golden Buzzer many viewers had been expecting, judge Amanda Holden was so impressed that she said he was the best opera singer the show had 'ever had,' quite a comment, given that BGT has also made stars out of the likes of Paul Potts and Susan Boyle.

A 'cert' for the final in the eyes of the bookies, Innocent was one of host of fan favourite who lined up in Monday's first semi final and was given the job of closing the show with his rendition of Nelle tue mani, famous for being on the soundtrack to Russell Crowe's Gladiator. However, while there was no denying that Innocent gave a great performance, with the judges on their feet to award a standing ovation and Alesha Dixon declaring he was 'the one to beat,' many people watching at home all had the same complaint - they couldn't heart him properly due to the music being too loud.

Taking to X to highlight that issue, one Britain's Got Talent viewer wrote: "Why is the backing track so loud? One of the best singers the show has ever had and you can barely hear him" with another, making the same complaint, reacting: "Can’t hear him above that bloody backing track"

Among the many other pots on the sound issue was one that read: "He has a beautiful voice. But god damn Simon Cowell needs to invest in better sound engineers. You could barely hear the poor bloke."

Thankfully for Innocent, the sound issues didn't harm his chances as he ended up topping the public vote, going straight through to Sunday's final.
