Solihull chemical alert: Staff sprayed down at Jaguar Land Rover - '29 workers treated'
West Midlands Ambulance Service posted on Twitter: "Today our team alongside senior ambulance officers & ambulance crews responded to a suspected chemical incident at Jaguar Land Rover Solihull."28 patients were assessed & given advice at the site with 1 person being transported to hospital with minor symptoms."
It is reported a floor in the plant was painted yesterday and aluminium dust reacted with the paint, giving off fumes.
One worker, who did not wish to be named, told Birminham Live: "No-one’s telling us anything and they are not sending us home."
Local councillor Diane Donaldson also alerted the newspaer earlier in the day and said: "Today I have had reports of an incident at Jaguar Land Rover in Solihull.
"Workers are being hosed down and taken to hospital.
"That’s all the information I can get.
"I’m hoping everyone is safe and nobody is taken ill."
West Midlands Fire Service or police were not called out the plant.
The Jaguar Land Rover plant is a big employer for the area.
This comes after 10 people, including three police officers, were taken to hospital after a suspected chemical attack in Leicester.
This happened at the Cricketers pub in Aylestone in the early hours of Sunday morning.
