YouTuber James Charles has denied allegations that he groomed a teen who he met on Snapchat. Who is Redzai?

A whole load of drama erupted yesterday (February 26th) surrounding James Charles after a 16-year-old made a number of allegations about him on TikTok.

James Charles then took to Twitter to deny the allegations and tell his side of the story.

The TikTok user is called Redzai, but who is he? Here’s everything we know.

Who is Redzai?

Isaiyah, better known as Redzai on TikTok, is the 16-year-old who alleged that James Charles groomed him.

He is a fashion model who has 264,000 followers on his TikTok @Redzai where he shared two videos in which he allegedly ‘exposed’ James Charles, sharing screenshots of Snapchat conversations with him.

Isaiyah also shared the videos to his Twitter where he goes by the name @Isaiyah13.

Redzai is from the USA, however details on his exact location are unknown.

James Charles denies grooming allegations

After Isaiyah’s allegations went viral on social media, James Charles took to Twitter to share his side of the story and deny the claims.

“There is a video going around of me on TikTok and Twitter of a guy calling me a groomer and I want to address it right away. The conversation that I have groomed this person is completely false,” he wrote in a Twitter statement.

He then started telling his side of the story, revealing that he had found Isaiyah on the Instagram Explore Page, seen he followed him and added him on Snapchat.

James then claimed that the next morning, he “woke up to several snaps from him”, some of which he described as “lewd photos” and added him back.

“I asked how old he was right away and he told me he was 18 so I started flirting back,” James said before writing: “In the excitement of meeting someone I thought could potentially be great, I didn’t ask for a copy of his ID or passport.”

Later in the day, James confronted him about his age again and he admitted he has lied and was actually 16. He then revealed that he felt “really uncomfortable” and “apologised for flirting” but said that Isaiyah wanted to continue talking.

“I told him I wasn’t okay with this, he started getting upset, and at this point, I unfriended him. We haven’t spoken since,” James revealed.

He then ended his post by writing,

“I am not victim-blaming him or victimizing myself either, simply sharing what happened, and what happened was not okay. After false allegations like this in the past, I would never knowingly engage with someone underage and put my life on the line for a few Snapchats.”

James said that in future, he will ask for proof of ID from everyone he talks to.
