James Woods breaks down in tears during TV interview after house
“One day you’re swimming in the pool and the next day it’s all gone”

Oscar winning actor James Woods was brought to tears during a television interview, discussing the loss of his home to the Los Angeles wildfires continuing to tear through the city.

There are currently five fires being fought by emergency services, with five people confirmed dead and more than 137,000 people have been evacuated from their homes. The fire in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood has become the most destructive in the city’s history, with at least 1,000 buildings destroyed. Many famous names in the film industry have been affected by the blaze, with actor Mark Hamill chronicling his evacuation.

Woods, a veteran actor known for his performances in films such as Casino and Any Given Sunday, documented the destruction as he fled to safety. Speaking to CNN, he confirmed the fire had claimed his house in Pacific Palisades.

The Oppenheimer executive producer became emotional talking about the impact. “One day you’re swimming in the pool and the next day it’s all gone” he said. He also broke down recalling his eight-year-old niece’s innocent offer of help. “She came out with her little Yeti piggy bank, for us to rebuild our house” he said while wiping away tears.

Elsewhere, TV personality Paris Hilton confirmed on Instagram that her house had been affected. “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience” she wrote.

The fires have brought out messages of help and support from all corners of the Hollywood community. Guardians Of The Galaxy actor Chris Pratt paid tribute to the firefighters and first responders in a post on X (formerly Twitter), while Police Academy star Steve Guttenberg was interviewed while moving cars to clear a path for fire trucks.

Star Wars legend Hamill was one of the first to share his perspective on the fires, reporting his evacuation on social media. “Most horrific fire since ’93” he wrote, referring to a 1993 fire in Malibu that destroy 323 homes. The current fires have since passed that total.
