Jamie Dornan shocked at suggestion hes not in as good shape as he used to be
The Holywood man has set up a local football team for his dad friends

Jamie Dornan has laughed off suggestions on live TV that he isn't in as good shape as he used to be.

He appeared on The One Show on Monday night via video to discuss new upcoming series The Tourist which will begin airing on BBC One on New Year's Day.

Host Jermaine Jenas said: " Jamie, I am loving this question here.

"I hear you set up a local football team for the dads, but unfortunately, you’re not in as good shape as you used to be apparently.

"That's what I've been told."

The Holywood actor's The Tourist co-star Shalom Brune-Franklin was left shocked as she said: "That’s savage."

Dornan added: "Yeah it was during, I think it was the first time last year when they announced that you were allowed to exercise outside again as a group or whatever.

"There was a couple of dads around for like Sunday lunch and I said, ‘Do you guys play football?’

"And they were like yeah and I said, ‘We should start a dads, you know, 5-a-side match or whatever.'

"So we started that and then last week we had a big grudge match, we had the dads against the school staff... we were three nil down, won six - four, but it was a good night."

Jermaine asked: "Did you put one away, did you score?"

Jamie replied: "I did, of course I scored mate."

Jermaine replied: "That’s what I like to hear.

Co-presenter Sam Quek added: "Jamie you’ll have to stay on the line after the show to give J some advice on how to score...

"Just a little bit of payback for telling everyone he wasn’t in shape."

Just before the show began, it was announced that the movie 'Belfast' has been nominated for six Golden Globes.

Jamie is up for Best Supporting Actor and will be competing against co-star Ciarán Hinds.

And in 'The Tourist', Dornan stars as a British man who finds himself in the heart of the Australian outback, being pursued by a vast tank truck attempting to drive him off the road.

A cat and mouse chase ensues, with the man later waking up in hospital hurt, but somehow still alive, with no idea who he is.

The 39-year-old also discussed how the BBC series has incorporated some comedy.

"There is sort of a darkness to the comedy... They managed to squeeze the comedy in often at the darkest of moments which I was very drawn to, I think, certainly if you are from my part of the world, you do find humour in darkness.

"Just when you think you know what the tone is, it changes," Jamie said.
