Jane Campion Rips Into Sam Elliott Over His 'The Power of the Dog' Criticism


Jane Campion is defending her movie.
If you missed it, Sam Elliott recently shared his harsh criticism of The Power of the Dog, calling it a “piece of s–t.”
While stepping out for the 2022 Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday night (March 12), Jane was asked about Sam‘s comments about her movie, and she did not hold back while she ripped into Sam.

“I’m sorry, he was being a little bit of a B-I-T-C-H. He’s not a cowboy; he’s an actor,” Jane shared with Variety. “The West is a mythic space and there’s a lot of room on the range. I think it’s a little bit sexist.”
She continued, ““When you think about the number of amazing westerns made in Spain by (director) Sergio Leone. I consider myself a creator. I think he thinks of me as a woman or something lesser first, and I don’t appreciate that.”
