The Chase star Jenny Ryan looks unrecognisable in an old photo that shows her competing on rival BBC quiz show Only Connect.

Joining the ITV quiz show in 2015, Jenny, 41, is known as The Vixen on the series, in which she appears alongside other quizzers including Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace and Anne Hegerty.

However before becoming a regular on The Chase, she competed in several other game shows.

Her first TV appearance came in 2003, when she helped the University of Leeds help reach the semi-finals of University Challenge.

Three years later she appeared on Mastermind, selecting the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer as her specialist subject, and featured in both series of Are You an Egghead? in 2008 and 2009.

Then, in 2010, she found success on Only Connect as a member of the team The Gamblers, who won the third series of the show.

Now, an image of her time on the show has resurfaced, with Jenny looking world’s away from her new persona as The Vixen, a nickname which was chosen in reference to her red hair and ponytail.

However, on Only Connect she was seen with shorter, dark hair and smaller, square glasses.

One of the episodes she appeared on more than a decade ago will be re-played on BBC Two tonight at 8pm, with Jenny sharing a throwback image on Instagram to encourage viewers to tune in.

‘POV: It’s 2011 and your #OnlyConnect team are fighting to be crowned the champion of champions!

‘Tune in to this vintage Only Connect winner’s special on Monday at 8pm on #BBC2.’

Aside from all of the above programmes, Jenny also appeared on Are You an Egghead? And also wrote questions for shows including The Weakest Link and Fifteen to One.

Only Connect airs Mondays at 8pm on BBC Two. The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1.
