ITV's Life Stories is back on screens tonight (February 3) as Kate Garraway takes over from Piers Morgan to quiz three new famous faces.

First up is professional footballer turned pundit John Barnes MBE, who discusses his personal life and career.

The former Liverpool left-winger also shares how he felt guilty after the 1989 Hillsborough disaster after he and his teammates watched on as the horrifying crush that led to 97 deaths unfolded.

John might be best known for his success on the football pitch, but his personal life has been just as action-packed over the years.

The Life Stories guest married his now ex-wife Suzy Barnes in 1991, with the pair welcoming four children together – Jamie, Jordan, Jemma and Jasmine – during their 10 years of marriage.

The pair split in 2001 with John going on to tie the knot with second wife Andrea five years later, in 2006.

John and Andrea have three children together – Isabelle, Tia and Alexander – with John, now 58, speaking at the time about how "delighted" he was to become a dad again at 47.

The footballer has been no stranger to reality TV over the years, having appeared in both the 2018 series of Celebrity Big Brother and the 2007 season of Strictly Come Dancing - alongside Kate Garraway.

John impressed BBC viewers with his smooth moves, finishing in seventh place with his professional partner Nicole Cutler, one place ahead of the Life Stories host.

Two years later, John was briefly the manager of Tranmere Rovers, a Liverpool-based football club, but was sacked after his team managed just two wins out of 11 league games.

In the immediate days after leaving the club, John was declared bankrupt.

Again, this was only temporary and the order was quickly overturned after his claims of his situation being due to a "tax oversight" were proven to be true, and subsequently dealt with.

Kate Garraway's Life Stories starts on Thursday, February 3 at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
