Bake Off result has viewers threatening to boycott final as Jurgen given the boot - Chronicle Live

Furious Great British Bake Off viewers have threatened to boycott this year's final after three time star baker Jurgen Krauss was given his marching orders from the tent.

Ever since the Channel 4 show made its highly anticipated return to screens in September, Jurgen, 56, established himself as a real fan favourite thanks to his culinary skills, passion for baking and infectious personality.

Many die hard Bake Off fans had him down as a dead cert to win the new series, so it came as a huge shock when judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood decided to send him home at the end of Tuesday's semi final.

What made Jurgen's exit an even more of a bitter pill for fans to swallow was the fact that he won the technical challenge in patisserie week but still wasn't deemed worthy of a place in the final by Paul and Prue.

Next week's final will; instead be contested by Chigs Parmar, Giuseppe Dell’Anno and Crystelle Pereira.

Shockwaves flew through the tent when Tuesday's result was announced with the other three bakers looking stunned by the outcome.

But their shock paled in comparison to the angry reactions on Twitter.

One livid fan tweeted: "love @BritishBakeOff but the way they treated Jurgen last night was so uncomfortable to watch. No way should he have gone, he’s the best baker by far. It’s so sad when a show just feels like a complete fix.

"We need a ‘Jurgen Bakes’ book & his own TV show."

A second ranted: " @BritishBakeOff mate seriously what we're you thinking?? This guy is the true winner of #GBBO!! The final should have been him against gussepe tut. "

Going further and calling for a boycott of the programme, another tweeted: "I’m Boycott this travesty of injustice, Wtf on three hand shakes and leaving Jurgen out - truth I’d disinfect my hands after a handshake off f…wi"

And echoing the exact same sentiments, another fumed: "I’ve only just seen Jurgen was booted off Bake Off. I can’t even be angry because I refuse to believe it’s true. It can’t be. Surely a nationwide boycott of the final? JURGEN"
