Keanu Reeves Shares The Real Reason He Didn't Return For 'Speed 2′

Keanu Reeves broke a lot of hearts when he didn’t return for Speed 2.

The 1997 film brought on Jason Patric in the lead male role opposite Sandra Bullock, who returned as Annie.

The movie took place on a cruise, where a computer hacker breaks into the system and sets it speeding on a collision course into a gigantic oil tanker.

In a new interview, Keanu revealed why he turned the sequel down.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show this week, fellow guest Jack Whitehall asked why he didn’t return.

“At the time I didn’t respond to the script,” Keanu shared, but added that he did really want “to work with Sandra Bullock. I loved playing Jack Tavern and I loved Speed – but an ocean liner?”

He added, “I had nothing against the artists involved, but at that time I had the feeling it just wasn’t right.”

Keanu and Sandra went on to star in The Lake House together as well, and he’d do it again, too, calling her a “wonderful artist and person.”
