FLORIDA — Celebrating St. Patrick's Day means guzzling beer while wearing green. For others, especially Florida families, it might mean visiting a restaurant to take advantage of special menu items and deals in celebration of all things Irish.

The March 17 holiday observes the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick's Day has evolved into a celebration of Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, drinking and a whole lot of green.

The folks at RetailMeNot have compiled a detailed list of food deals and specials at restaurants in Florida that you can check out for the holiday weekend.

  • Applebee’s - Try the Tipsy Leprechaun for just $5 or the Pot O’ Gold Daq-A-Rita for $2 more.
  • Arby’s - The Mint Chocolate Shake takes the chain’s signature shake base and mixes it with mint-chocolate flavoring, topped with a whipped topping, chocolate drizzle and Andes candy pieces.
  • Bar Louie - March 17 drink deals include a $3 Bud Light Green beer, a $4 Jameson Sidecar and a $5 Guinness Draught. You can also enjoy limited-time cocktails like the Irish Goodbye and the Irish Old Fashioned as well as a Reuben sandwich.
  • Bennigan’s - For all of March, the restaurant will have Irish-inspired items like Loaded Blarney Pub Fries, The Reuben Brat, Molly Malone’s Irish Linguine and Irish Cream Cheesecake. There are also plenty of drinks ranging from the Celtic Peach Blaster to the Emerald Isle Party Punch.
  • Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. - Featured drinks this weekend are Jameson Irish Mule, made with Jameson Irish Whiskey, lime juice and Fever-Tree Ginger Beer.
  • Dairy Queen - Try the Under the Rainbow Shake or the Mint Brownie Blizzard on St. Patrick’s Day. The Mint Brownie Blizzard is available for a limited time.
  • Krispy Kreme - Krispy Kreme is famous for offering special-edition decorative doughnuts to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. In the past, we saw doughnuts, including the Hat O’ Gold, Golden Sprinkle and Rainbow Kreme.
  • McAlister’s Deli - Corned beef and potatoes are what McAlister’s Deli is offering on March 17. You can enjoy the Corned Beef Spud only on St. Patrick’s Day. If you’d prefer a Reuben, you can pick one up from McAlister’s Deli anytime.
  • McDonald’s - The McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is back for St. Patrick’s Day. If you prefer the McFlurry over shakes, you can plan to snag the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry instead.
  • Panera - Their special menu of clean and green goodies range from the Green Passion Smoothie and the Green Goddess Cobb Salad with Chicken to the Candy Cookie.

STK Steakhouse: Through March 17, stop by STK Steakhouse restaurants and enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day specials like lil’ corned beef sliders with tater tots and Leprechaun Stiletto cocktails, available at lunch, happy hour and dinner. Be sure to book your reservation to take part in the festivities.

TGI Fridays: Feed your clan of four to six people with the whiskey-glaze bundle, which features six whiskey-glazed chicken breasts, two racks of whiskey-glazed ribs and a choice of salad and two sides.
