Kyle Walker defends Man City nightclub visit before FA Cup final
Manchester City lost the FA Cup final to rivals Man United, having celebrated their Premier League title a few days earlier at a Manchester nightclub.

Kyle Walker insists Manchester City were right to celebrate their Premier League title last weekend because doing so after the FA Cup final could have put a 'downer' on their parties.

City secured a fourth Premier League title in a row last Sunday, taking to a Manchester nightclub deep into Monday morning to celebrate the success. They returned to training on Wednesday, with Pep Guardiola happy with the focus and application of his City players in the build-up to the final.

However, City were second best at Wembley and lost for the first time in 35 outings to hand the cup final to United, and Guardiola admitted he got his tactics wrong after the defeat.

Captain Walker insisted the Blues 'attack as a team and defend as a team' when dissecting the defensive mistakes that handed United the cup, and defended their right to enjoy the title last weekend.

"We celebrated on Sunday, this is Saturday. It's six days," he said. "If us athletes can't recover in six days we've got no chance for everyone. We had to take that moment on Sunday, because if we're celebrating now on a downer it won't feel right.

"The moment was right, the club, the players and staff made that decision. Let's not blame that. It's down to us as players who played that 97 minutes."

Walker also looked ahead to Sunday's trophy parade in Manchester, with just the Premier League to show to fans.

"Four in a row has never been done until we did it. It's right that we celebrate with our fans," he said. "Would we have wanted it off the back of this result - of course not. I'd have liked to make an extra trophy. But hopefully for what we've achieved this year coming off the back of the treble, hopefully they can be satisfied with that and they can show their support tomorrow. I know we will show our appreciation for their support over the season."

Walker also absolved Guardiola of any blame for his tactics, saying: "He's the last man I'm going to question on tactics because he's a genius for what he's done. For the years I've been here, he's transformed me as a player.

"How he's transformed some of the players in there. If he says that it's down to him. For me it's the whole squad. We've got 97 minutes to win a game of football. We all take accountability."
