The infection rate is lower than the national average in all ten boroughs

Coronavirus infection rates are continuing to fall across all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester.

Stockport continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in the region.

The borough recorded a rate of 287.2 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending February 20, according to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency.

The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is 174.2 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 238 cases per 100,000 population.

The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 415.1 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 6,750 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on February 20.

The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 2,389 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 26 per cent in the last week..

The infection rate is lower than the national average in all ten boroughs.

Hospital admissions

In the week ending on February 20, a total of 318 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 107 fewer than the week before, a fall of 51pc.

On Tuesday February 22, there were 26 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is one fewer than a week earlier.

This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.

Deaths

In the week ending February 20, a total of 38 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is four fewer than the week before.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 896,677 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 8,746 deaths.

Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs

Tameside

The trend is down in Tameside, where there were 559 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 20, which is 143 fewer than the previous seven days. That is down by 20 per cent compared to the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Tameside is 246.1 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.

Trafford

There were 642 positive tests over the last week in Trafford, which is 272 fewer than in the previous week.

The week-on-week trend in Trafford is down by 30 per cent and the latest infection rate is 270.2 cases per 100,000 people.

Bury

Bury saw a total of 441 cases in the week ending February 20, which is 108 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 20 per cent.

In Bury, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 231.2 cases per 100,000 people.

Salford

In Salford, the latest infection rate is 264.2 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 20 per cent.

A total of 694 people tested positive for Covid in Salford over the seven days ending on February 20, which is 177 fewer than the week before.

Manchester

Manchester recorded 1,427 coronavirus cases, which is 401 fewer than in the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in Manchester is 256.8 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 22 per cent week-on-week.

Rochdale

Rochdale is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 194.5 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 435 cases recorded in Rochdale, which is 205 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 32 per cent.

Stockport

In Stockport, there were 845 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 20, which is 252 fewer than the previous seven days.

Stockport has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Stockport is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 23 per cent.

Wigan

There was a fall of 34 per cent in cases in Wigan over the week ending February 20, and the infection rate is now 216.8 cases per 100,000 population.

Wigan recorded 717 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 362 fewer than the previous week.

Bolton

In Bolton, the number of cases is down by 33 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 199.8 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 576 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending February 20, which was 282 fewer than the previous seven days.

Oldham

Oldham, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 414 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending February 20, which is 187 fewer than the previous seven days.

The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 174.2 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 31 per cent week-on-week.
