Williams no walkover for Sheeraz
Hamzah Sheeraz and Liam Williams are two fighters at very different stages of their careers.
Welshman Williams has been involved in title fights and huge contests before, including two match-ups with Liam Smith, an attempt at the WBO middleweight belt against Demetrius Andrade and a bout with Chris Eubank Jr.
Most read in Boxing
All of those contests ended in defeat but he has previously held titles at British, European and Commonwealth level and has a chance to secure some silverware here.
Sheeraz, who at 24 is seven years younger than Williams, is attempting to work his way towards a world title shot of his own as he defends his WBC Silver and Commonwealth middleweight crowns at the Copper Box.
Sheeraz is unbeaten after 18 fights and he has picked up 14 wins inside the distance. The Slough-native has recorded 13 of those stoppages in his last 13 outings but Williams is an experienced old professional and arguably represents his toughest test to date, so there is a good chance this one could go the full distance.
Ultimately, a win for rising star Sheeraz looks the more likely option but Williams can’t be discounted either and, with the prices available, the best bet looks to be backing the fight to go the distance.
Sheeraz has recovered from a knockdown earlier in his career, while Williams has only been stopped once in his four losses and has picked himself off the canvas to reach the final bell previously - most notably against Eubank Jr where he was knocked down four times but lost on points.
Both of these fighters look durable, and although both carry plenty of power there is a good chance the judges will be required to decide the winner.
Yarde can make light work of Nikolic
After an excellent performance against the monster that is Artur Beterbiev, another title shot has to be close for Anthony Yarde but the light heavyweight division is tied up right now and his meeting with Marko Nikolic looks to be a bit of a ‘keep busy’ contest for the Londoner.
A meeting with Joshua Buatsi has been mooted after his win over Dan Azeez, but first Yarde has to take care of Nikolic and this one could be over quickly.
Yarde stopped Jorge Silva in the second round in his last bout and each of his last four wins have come in the first four rounds. Nikolic has campaigned in his native Serbia for the majority of his career with the odd bout in other European countries, and he may find Yarde a step too far so under 2.5 rounds appeals.
Itauma may need the judges
Rising star Karol Itauma has compiled an 11-1 record and looks destined for bigger things, but he may need to work hard against unbeaten Italian Eros Seghetti.
Seghetti has 10 wins, one draw and no defeats on his record and this could be more competitive than the prices suggest.
Itauma’s last two wins have come on points, and he can claim another decision win in this eight-round contest on Saturday.
