A number of items have been recalled by Lidl due to the possible presence of metal, with shoppers urged to return the affected products

Lidl has recalled more packs of cookies due to possible metal contamination.

The retailer and the Food Standards Agency have issued fresh notices about the recall of products. A warning was initially sent out last week but a new alert was shared on Thursday, extending the recall to more items. Scroll down to see the full list of products affected.

The Food Standards Agency said: "Lidl is extending their recall of various cookies because they may contain pieces of metal. The possible presence of metal makes these products unsafe to eat. This product recall has been updated to include additional products."

A spokesperson for Lidl said: "Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned product due to potential presence of metal, which may cause injury. If you have bought one of the above products we advise you not to eat them.

"Customers are asked to return these products to the nearest store where a full refund will be given. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation."
