After years of education, followed by specialisation in one’s desired field of academics, it is only natural that the next big aspiration is landing one’s dream job. India, which has a sizeable young population, is bustling with talent. And, with an abundance of talent, there is also a likelihood of millions seeking to get the perfect job to empower themselves.

Considering the times we are living, millions are out and about to find the perfect job. IT professional Arsh Nandan Prasad is one among the millions who are actively looking to be employed. However, his present circumstances make him different. Prasad is a cancer patient and is undergoing chemotherapy.

Not Here For Sympathy

The young professional took to LinkedIn to talk about his job search even while undergoing such a delicate phase in his life. Prasad posted an image of himself sitting in a hospital bed, dressed in a medical gown, and busy working on his laptop. The professional who has lost hair as a consequence of his condition went on to lament how he was not getting selected by companies while he was going through one of the most difficult times in his life. The youth emphasised that he was not looking for sympathy, but was here to prove himself.

“When you give your best in the interviews but are not selected for the mere fact that you are going through a rough patch in life certainly shows how generous these companies are... As the recruiters come to know that I'm fighting Cancer, I see the change in their expressions. I don't need your sympathy!! I'm here to prove myself…Just a recent pic of me giving an interview during my Chemotherapy sessions,” read Prasad’s post on LinkedIn Prasad’s post got viral almost instantly with many hailing his courage and many others offering words of encouragement and support. The post got significant attention from active users on LinkedIn with over 80K likes and 3k comments. Many LinkedIn users re-shared Prasad’s post with personal stories that recounted their struggles with cancer along with job searches.

The Act Of Benevolence Prasad’s words and plight caught the attention of Nilesh Satpute, the CEO of a Maharashtra-based tech company Applied Cloud Computing. Satpute responded to Prasad’s post requesting him to stop attending interviews and continue with his treatment.

The tech company’s boss went on to say that he had checked Prasad’s credentials and that they made him a strong candidate. Satpute said that Prasad was free to join the company whenever he wanted to and that there will be no interview.

“Hi Arsh! You are a warrior. Please stop attending interviews during your treatment. I checked your credentials they are very strong. You can join us whenever you want. There will be no interview,” read the comment by Satpute.

Satpute’s response to Prasad was liked by many on LinkedIn. Many users hailed the CEO as act as commendable. While a user called Satpute the most beautiful human being, another said that the world needs more leaders like him. Instances such as this rekindle our hope in humanity.
