The high-profile Thai restaurant is the latest major restaurant to close. It blamed high rents, but administrators says staff costs were too high.
Long Chim, the high-profile Sydney diner run by chef David Thompson, had fallen behind on paying seven months’ worth of rent before it decided to close its Sydney restaurant, blaming its landlord for refusing to budge on the lease.
Mr Thompson is well known for his mastery of Thai cuisine and operated Nahm in London, the first Thai restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star. He opened Long Chim in Singapore in 2015, and Sydney the following year.
