Susanna Reid gatecrashes Lorraine Kelly's ITV show with huge news leaving her fighting tears

Susanna Reid left Lorraine Kelly stunned when she gatecrashed her live show with some big news. The broadcaster had already been seen on screens co-hosting Good Morning Britain early on Monday (March 25) before she made an unexpected appearance on Lorraine a short time later.
Lorraine, 64, thought she was catching up on the latest entertainment news with Tyler West but their segment wasn't being broadcast live and instead, Susanna, 53, appeared behind the scenes and revealed she'd be surprising her ITV pal.
When fanfare started to play out in the studio, Lorraine appeared baffled before Susanna appeared through the LED sliding doors as she revealed she was on hand to announce that Lorraine had won this year's TV Bafta Special Award with the prestigious honour marking Lorraine's four-decade-long career.

Upon receiving the news, Lorraine exclaimed: "This is nuts!" She then asked: "Where’s Ant and Dec? This is a prank," before saying she knew it had to be real as it was Susanna delivering the news to her.
When Susanna entered the studio with a golden envelope, she told Lorraine: "It doesn't get much bigger or more serious than this." A tentative Lorraine listened before saying with a giggle: "I'm frightened."
In an awards first, Susanna explained that Lorraine was being honoured for her decades in the industry, her life-changing campaigns and charity work and would receive the gong in a ceremony ceremony on May 14 at London's Royal Festival Hall. And it could be a Bafta double this year for Lorraine with her self-titled show also nominated in the Daytime category alongside Loose Women.
Susanna explained: "BAFTA will be celebrating your 40 years in broadcasting. Your programme is nominated in the daytime category, but I have something unique and special to you. This is the first time something like this has been announced on air. This is the special gold envelope."
She added, "On behalf of the BAFTA board of trustees, we are delighted to offer you Lorraine Kelly the Academy Special award to be presented at this year’s BAFTA Television Awards."
On 40 years in broadcasting, Lorraine recalled, “It’s crazy. I joined TVAM in 1984." She added, “I was a baby, I got my chance in breakfast television because they were willing to take a risk on someone who was told I’d never make it to TV because of the way I speak.
"The boss of TVAM was Australian and heard a Scottish accent and it was one of those things where it was like ‘Give her a go.’"
As she later appeared to fight tears at Susanna and Dr Hilary Jones' words of support and praise, before Susanna also read Bafta's reasons for honouring her with the award, Lorraine said: "This is lovely. I'm absolutely thrilled to bits. Goodness me."
