Louise Minchin was the fifth star to be voted off I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on Thursday night, as viewers of the ITV show were left furious as only one woman - Frankie Bridge - remains in the castle

Louise Minchin has responded to the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! sexism row and admitted she is 'disappointed' to be the fourth woman eliminated from the castle.

The 53-year-old was the fifth star to be evicted from the ITV show on Thursday night, after spending a total of 17 days in Gwrych Castle.

The former BBC Breakfast host only took part in one trial during her time in the camp, but managed to carve out a much-needed role as the ‘mother’ of her fellow contestants, and touched the hearts of viewers as she cared for the celebs.

Speaking to hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly in her exit interview, Louise said she realised while in the castle that she ‘cared about caring for people’.

“I did not realise it was fundamental to me,” she stated.

However, she was honest when quizzed about being the fourth woman voted off the show, as furious fans suggested sexism was at play because just one woman, Frankie Bridge, remains in the camp alongside five men.

“I am disappointed that is the case… there is only one Frankie Bridge, she is incredible, strong, stronger than she thinks she is,” Louise shared.

She also tipped The Saturdays singer to win the show ahead of David Ginola, Simon Gregson, Adam Woodyatt, Matty Lee and Danny Miller.

The ex-newsreader said she was excited to be leaving camp, and wanted to reunite with her family - husband David and their two children.

“I can't wait to go home. I didn't want to go home, but now I am going home, I'm super excited,” she admitted.

Louise said she had learnt a lot about herself while in the castle for almost three weeks, and despite being days away from making the final, she said the experience was ‘life-changing’.

“I've learnt so much about myself and other people. I've learnt how to get on in tough circumstances,” she explained.

Fans of the show were left baffled as to why Louise had been voted off the reality show, and claimed it was sexism that has led to Louise, Snoochie Shy, Arlene Phillips and Kadeena Cox being voted out before the men.

“Just an observation but why is it the women always go out first ? Thought Louise was a solid contender,” one tweeted.

“F**K SAKE!!!! 5 males and one female left??? Is this becoming sexist !!?? RIDICULOUS!!” a furious viewer fired.

“WHAT IS IT WITH THE WOMEN BEING VOTED OUT CONSTANTLY??” another fumed.

“How has Louise left over a bloke that don’t talk or do anything?” one asked, as a fan added: “Louise is amazing, really sad that she has been voted out. Why are all the women getting voted out!”
