Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson has said that nearly losing his sister Louise through childbirth was "one of the toughest things" he's ever had to deal with.

In an incredibly sweet post, the reality TV star paid tribute to his "incredible" sister Louise, who nearly died after suffering complications while giving birth to her newborn son, Leo-Hunter Libbey, in November.

Louise and fiancé Ryan Libbey welcomed their first "little miracle baby" together into the world last month, however their son's arrival saw mother and baby "dancing with death" following a dramatic labour.

Despite giving birth back in November, Louise, 31, very almost didn't make it home for Christmas - after "various serious complications" left her confined to a wheelchair and recovering in hospital for a month post-birth.

Sharing a photo of himself hugging Louise next to a Christmas tree, Sam wrote that he would "never take any day for granted ever again" after his sister's death scare.

He also hailed Louise an "incredible woman" and to see her put a dress on for the first time in months was "everything [he] could have asked for and more".

Sam wrote: "2021 has been a year of many highs and many lows. But nearly losing my sister was one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to deal with. The hardest situations teach the biggest lessons, and I learnt to never take any day for granted ever again.

"To see all the pain she has suffered, and all the setbacks she has faced, and to see her still smiling at the end of it just shows how incredible of a woman she is. Just to see you put on a dress for the first time in months is everything I could have asked for and more.

"I am so grateful for you and your strength @louise.thompson and I promise 2022 will be your year!! And I will be there to piss you off every step of the way."

It comes after Louise said that Ryan "witnessed things no partner should" as she lavished praise on her fiance on New Year's Eve.

Louise detailed to her fans how the personal trainer had to be a "single parent" whilst she was unwell and told that he was her "rock" through it all.

She added that Ryan handled the tricky experience with "grace and fortitude" before vowing to "be strong" for her son and partner as she continues her recovery.
