Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont to divorce after nine years of marriage
Comedy and acting couple Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont are divorcing after nine years of marriage, they have announced in a joint statement.
Hullraisers writer Lucy, 40, and 8 Out of 10 Cats star Jon, 41, married in 2015 and welcomed their daughter the following year.
In a statement shared on Friday, they announced: ‘After 9 years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated.
‘We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.
‘As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being.
‘We will be making no further comment.’
The couple have starred in Meet the Richardsons in which they play ‘exaggerated versions of themselves’, and following the chaos of their marital life.
The ‘at home mockumentary’, which airs on UKTV’s Dave with the fifth series starting this month, saw Lucy nominated for a Bafta TV award in the female performance in a comedy programme category in 2023.
Last year, Jon and Lucy told Metro.co.uk about the ‘intensity’ of working together, with Taskmaster star Jon saying: ‘To give us some credit, I think we are really good at what is quite an intense thing you know, working together on a project that does take the full year to write the series film the series, edit it and promote it.
‘We’re always working on it and to balance that amongst still maintaining a private life isn’t easy, and I think we’re really good at it.
‘There’s times obviously it’s difficult because marriage is difficult anyway, you know, I could be a dentist and you know, Lucy could be a teacher and marriage is just difficult.
‘So this extra element doesn’t make it any easier. But I do think we’re actually quite good.’

The fifth series began airing just days ago, on Monday, April 8, with Lucy saying ahead of its premiere, according to Beyond The Joke: ‘I think this is the best one to be honest. Every series we’ve got better and better.
‘When we started out in series one, it was a little bit of an unknown. It was sort of mockumentary, but it was scripted, but we had real people in it.
‘I do struggle to explain it really and I think that wound people up because sometimes I didn’t know what was real and what wasn’t.
‘I think we’ve just got better at making that genre, so I think this series is the funniest yet, personally.
‘When I started out, I was working but not a great deal and because it’s followed our own life, in this series my career has really taken off and I’ve reached 40 and I’m having a midlife crisis.
‘I think viewers can expect much of the same, but I think it’s definitely the funniest it’s been.’
The couple also entertained viewers together when they starred on Celebrity Gogglebox.
During her career, Lucy has featured on a number of comedy panel shows including Would I Lie To You?, The Last Leg and Have I Got News For You.
Jon is also known for his appearances on panel shows and was previously a team captain on 8 Out Of 10 Cats.
In 2018 he launched the panel show Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier, which ran on Dave for two series, and he has previously co-hosted with Russell Howard on BBC Radio 6 Music.
Meet The Richardsons is available to watch on Dave.
