Latest Leicester City new from LeicestrshireLive as Ruud van Nistelrooy returns to Old Trafford for the first time since becoming manager of the Foxes for FA Cup clash

Ruud van Nistelrooy will be hoping for a welcome break from the fight to keep Leicester City in the Premier League when he returns to Old Trafford on Friday for an FA Cup fourth-round tie against Manchester United.

The ailing Foxes are third from bottom after a run of one victory in their last 10 Premier League games, and they have lost eight of them. The one shining light in the league was victory at Tottenham on January 26, while in the FA Cup they trounced QPR 6-2 to set-up Friday's trip to Old Trafford.

Not that United have yet seen a sustained improvement in form since Ruben Amorim took over as manager at the Theatre of Dreams, where Van Nistelrooy was caretaker boss until the Portuguese arrived on November 1. The legendary United striker quickly moved on from his role as assistant head coach after Amorim was appointed, and was named as Leicester boss a month later.

One of the few shining lights of Amorim's brief tenure was United's third-round victory at Arsenal, and van Nistelrooy was in charge when they knocked Leicester out of the Carabao Cup.
