Dana White has confirmed Mark Coleman will make a cameo at UFC 300.

The former two-time UFC champion, who almost died while saving his parents from a fire that claimed the life of his dog, will play a key role at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

White typically crowns a new champion by wrapping a belt around their waist, but he’s taken a different approach following previous fights for the BMF title, which will be on the line this weekend.

The Rock crowned Jorge Masvidal the inaugural BMF champion in November 2019 and ‘Gamebred’ was on hand to present Justin Gaethje with it when he became the BMF titleholder by knocking out Dustin Poirier last year.

Coleman will oversee the crowning ceremony following Gaethje’s first title defence against former featherweight king Max Holloway at UFC 300.  

White confirmed Coleman’s role at a press conference on Thursday.

“Done,” he said when a media member told him Gaethje and Holloway want Coleman to wrap the BMF belt around their waist on fight night.

Coleman was always going to be in attendance at UFC 300 as White sent him a bunch of tickets for the landmark event as a reward for his heroism.

“Wow this is special thank u all,” he wrote on Instagram after learning he’ll now play a prominent role at the show.

Holloway had been pushing for Coleman to hand him the BMF belt.

"The only correct answer is Mark Coleman,” Holloway told MMA Junkie when asked who should present the BMF title at UFC 300.

“Especially with what he went through recently with his dog and his dog waking him to go save his stuff and he goes in there and runs for his dog?

“The guy’s a G. That’s a real life BMF. That would be sick if he did it. It would be an honour to get him to do it.”

“I love it. Absolutely.” Gaethje said when asked if he likes Holloway’s idea during a subsequent interview with MMA Junkie.

“The guy has fought so many times and he’s such a warrior in the cage and what he went through. I would love for him to do that, that’s a great idea. Best idea Max has had in a while, and he has a lot of good ideas.”

“I haven’t talked to the UFC at all [about Coleman] so I have no idea.

"I’ll definitely enjoy it more than Masvidal putting it on me after [beating Dustin Poirier in July]. I know that. Yeah, he’s a f***ing loser.”
