Aldi roasts M&S after spotting sneaky detail in furniture ad - but they hit back
Aldi has gone viral after reigniting its playful feud with Marks & Spencer - and it's pretty 'hilarious'
Everyone knows the two retailers were embroiled in a heated legal battle over its Cuthbert and Collin the Caterpillar cakes - which was settled back in 2021. However, the supermarkets still like to poke fun at each other online, much to shoppers' amusement.
The latest instalment of the corporate banter comes after M&S launched a rather spenny set of garden furniture on its website, perfect for those sunny evenings (when they eventually arrive). However, Aldi's official X (Twitter) account was quick to notice an unusual detail...
The Royalcraft Roma 4 Seater Garden Table & Chair from M&S will set you back a whopping £669 - but offers a 'smart and stylish addition to any outdoor space'. However, it is the bottle of wine photographed in the centre of the table that has caught people's attention - as the alcohol is stocked by none other than Aldi.
"Marks & Spencer drink Aldi wine, pass it on," the supermarket said on X - in a post that has now been viewed more than 1.2 million times and garnered over 14,000 likes at the time of writing. Hundreds of tickled shoppers also flocked to the comments section to applaud Aldi on the cheeky quip, with many dubbing the post 'incredible'.

"Not just any wine this is Al Di wine," one user joked - mocking M&S' iconic tagline. "This has won the internet debate today," wrote another - while a third added: "This is hilarious." A fourth penned the social media managers behind the account, named Caitlyn and Cameron, 'deserve a pay rise'.
The papped-wine is a 75cl bottle of Côtes De Provence Rosé - which is currently out of stock on Aldi's website after 'selling like mad'. However, you may still be able to find a bottle in-store if you're lucky (or quick).
A M&S spokesperson told the Mirror: "Sometimes you regret asking guests to BYOB. This one is fine for a prop but if you'd prefer to enjoy a top-quality bottle of award-winning rosé with your new garden furniture, we'd recommend our gorgeously fruity and aromatic Collection Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire rosé – an absolute must for lovers of pink drinks in the sunshine!"
