Nike issue statement on Mason Greenwood amid claims Man Utd star attacked woman

Nike has said it is "deeply concerned" by allegations made against Mason Greenwood.

Nike sponsors the Manchester United and England international forward, who has been accused of attacking a woman.

Nike issued a statement, as reported by The Athletic, which read: "We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation."

Greater Manchester Police since confirmed a man has been arrested this Sunday.

GMP said in a statement: "Greater Manchester Police were made aware earlier today (Sunday 30 January) of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.

"An investigation was launched and following enquiries, we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing."

United also made the following statement, prior to an arrest being made: "We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media.

"We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind."

United released a further announcement confirming they had suspended Greenwood, again, ahead of GMP confirming an arrest had been made.

"Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice," it read.
