Beginning Thursday, the world’s top golfers will compete at Augusta National Golf Club for the 2024 Masters.
A first-place finish in the event does much more than give the winner a trophy, a hefty paycheck and, of course, that famous green jacket. By winning the Masters, a golfer’s name is etched alongside the most accomplished and revered figures in the game’s history.

The chase for that slice of golf immortality begins Thursday and will continue through Sunday, barring any unforeseen developments, with close to 90 golfers vying for that prize against each other and the famed Augusta National course itself.

Expected inclement weather at Augusta National forced Thursday's opening round to be delayed by 2½ hours, pushing back patrons from entering the grounds and the annual honorary starters from kicking off the tournament.

If projections heading into the Masters hold, a familiar face will wrap up the tournament putting on the green jacket — again.
According to odds from BetMGM, Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win the Masters in 2024, at +400. Scheffler is the No. 1 player in the most recent World Golf Ranking and has experienced relatively recent success at Augusta National, having won the Masters in 2022.
Rory McIlory, the No. 2 player in the world, has the second-best odds while Jon Rahm, the reigning Masters champion and No. 3 player in the world, has the third-best odds.
