Matija Sarkic passes away aged 26

Shrewsbury Town are devastated to learn the news our former goalkeeper Matija Sarkic has passed away at the age of just 26.

Matija joined Salop on loan from Wolves in 2020 and became a hugely popular figure at the club both on and off the pitch.

The talented goalkeeper played 26 times for the club in a career that also saw him win nine international caps for Montenegro. 

Matija, whose career began with Aston Villa, also had spells with Livingston, Stoke and, most recently, Millwall.

The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Shrewsbury Town are with Matija's family and friends at this incredibly sad time.
