BBC Saturday Kitchen fans go wild as Matt Tebbutt returns to show after emergency surgery
The TV presenter was rushed to hospital to have his appendix removed

Matt Tebbett has returned to Saturday Kitchen this morning after he was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery to have his appendix removed.

The TV presenter opened the show, thanking his stand in and hospital staff who looked after him.

He said: “I just want to say it’s great to be back, it really is great to be back.

“Bit of a rubbish week last week and thanks so much for stepping in last week Ang, you did a brilliant job.

“Thanks to all of you who sent me get well messages and obviously I have to say a huge thank you to the staff at the grange university hospital who looked after me so brilliantly, absolute angels.

“So on doctors orders I’ve been told not to do any lifting, no more than a kettle apparently so I’m handing all the cooking over to Cheng and Mandy today.”

Fans were overjoyed at the return of the presenter and rushed to social media to share their excitement.

One user wrote: “Good to see you back Matt , Saturday Kitchen now, though still good, but isn't the same without you !”

Another added: “Yay, welcome back Matt!!”

A third said: “Good to see our Matt back on #SaturdayKitchen ”

Many thought the show wasn’t the same without him.

One viewer said: “Love having Matt back not the same without him.”

And: “So lovely to see you back on the TV, the program isn’t the same without you. So glad you’re feeling much better.”

Matt has been updating fans on his health scare since he was rushed to hospital.

Following his surgery, Matt shared a snap from his hospital bed on January 18 with a morphine drip in the background.

He praised the staff at the hospital for the “fantastic” care he had received.

The chef added that he “couldn’t ask for more from such a brilliant health service" and he was "so grateful" to the NHS.
