Maura Higgins opens up about Pete Wicks romance rumours after I ...
Maura Higgins, the former Love Island finalist, was quickly questioned about her alleged romance with Pete Wicks after her departure from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here. Maura, who joined the jungle late alongside Reverend Richard Coles, was a favourite to win the ITV reality show.
However, after failing to secure immunity in a new twist on the show, she received the fewest public votes along with fellow Irish star Barry McGuigan. On Friday (December 6), Maura appeared on This Morning and reiterated her belief that she would be the next to leave the camp.
Speaking live from the Gold Coast via video link, she told hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary: "I told everyone in camp last night, 'This is my last night'. I had Coleen [Rooney] plait my hair late last night and I said, 'Please, because I know I'm going to walk out tomorrow and I want my hair in plaits'. I just had a gut feeling."
After discussing her time in the jungle for most of the interview, Alison couldn't resist saying: "I'm very excited with you meeting up with Pete when you get back, we all know it's Pete - don't even go there and say it's not Pete! You love him and he loves you," after Maura spoke about her love life in the jungle.
The excited host then inquired: "What's gonna happen when you come back? " To which Maura replied with a hint of mischief, "It didn't take you long to ask that question, Alison, did it? " She continued, "Do you know what? You do forget about the cameras, and I do like to keep things private.", reports the Manchester Evening News.
"But let's be real, I said it. Can't remember saying it, but I said the words, 'I miss him,' and I do miss him. Like I miss all my friends and family," she added, smiling once more. Recognising Strictly Come Dancing star Pete's encouragement, she expressed: "But no, he is the most supportive... Honestly, I didn't know if he was still in Strictly, and I'm so proud of him; he's proud of me, and yeah, I can't wait to see him when I get back! " However, Alison couldn't resist getting carried away, asking if she could attend Maura's hypothetical wedding to Pete, to which Maura laughed and said, "You can be a bridesmaid, Alison, OK, for God's sake."
