Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have shared the first photo of their baby daughter Lilibet.

She appears in a sweet family snap that features on their 2021 Christmas card, which also shows a rare glimpse their two-year-old son Archie sitting on dad Harry's knee.

In the card, the couple write: "This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa’, and Lili made us a family.”

The adorable photo was taken by photographer Alexi Lubomirski at their home in California in the summer.

It shows Meghan proudly holding Lilibet, who was born in June, with the tot smiling back joyfully at her mum.

He said: "This is one of those rare and special projects, that one is fortunate enough to be a part of.

"To be able to continue the story of this family whom I first photographed as an engaged couple, then on the day of their wedding, as a married couple and now seeing their love manifest into two beautiful children, has been a delightful honour.

"This day with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was one such joyous experience, and one that I feel extremely privileged to have been invited to capture. "

The card was given to the charity Team Rubicon, which shared it on social media today.

Meghan and Harry also write in the card: "As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families - from those being relocated from Afghanistan to American families in need of parental leave."

Those charities are Welcome US, Human First Coalition, Humanity Crew, Paid Leave For All, PL+US and Marshall Plan for Moms.

It's the fourth card Meghan and Harry have released since tying the knot it 2018.

The first was a black and white snap from their wedding day, showing the newlyweds watching the firework display at their private evening reception.

In 2019, their first year as parents, they shared an adorable snap of them sitting in front of a tree while baby Archie crawled towards the camera.

Last year, their first Christmas after quitting the royal family, showed the trio and their dogs playing in front of a play house in the garden of their American home.

The Sussexes join the Cambridges and Prince Charles in sharing a 2021 Christmas card photo, but each family has picked a very different snap.

Charles and Camilla's fun shot shows him helping his wife with her face mask during a day at the races in the summer - a very fitting snap for the times.

Meanwhile Kate and William opted for a holiday shot from their family trip to Jordan earlier this year. It shows the couple and their children, George, Charlotte and Louis, sitting in the sunshine.
