"I reckon six and a half, seven minutes, I will be done, I will be out and I will be enjoying the rest of my day.

"If you can give blood and you want to give blood, just know you are doing a good thing. Anyway, see you on BBC Breakfast."

Fans rushed to shower the presenter with praise as one user said: "Thank you so much. You are a lifesaver."

Another said: "Good on you Naga. I used to go with my Mum in the 1970s when she used to give blood. I faint when I have a blood test so just can't do it - but I make sure I do other things to help out, such as volunteering within the NHS. My Dad wouldn't have been alive, today, as a sprightly 85 year old if he hadn't had 7 blood transfusions following an RTC back in the 70s."
